What is the Georgia Home Energy Rebate Program?
Georgia's Home Energy Rebates include two programs designed to help residents lower energy costs through energy-efficient home improvements and electric appliance upgrades.
Home Electrification and Appliance Rebates (HEAR)
The Home Electrification and Appliance Rebates program provides point-of-sale rebates to households earning less than 150 percent of the Area Median Income (AMI) in their county. Eligible households may receive up to $14,000 in total rebates.
Eligible upgrades may include:
- Heat pumps for heating and cooling
- Heat pump water heaters
- Electrical panel upgrades (breaker box)
- Electric wiring upgrades

Households must provide a state-issued ID (driver's license, passport, etc.) and proof of residency or property owner authorization (utility bill, lease). Income eligibility requires tax documents, W-2s, or pay stubs. Alternatively, households may qualify through categorical eligibility by participating in another state/federal program that meets the Home Energy Rebates income thresholds.
