Estes Services and the American Diabetes Association
Today in America, someone is diagnosed with diabetes every 21 seconds. Did you know there are multiple types including Type 1, Type 2 and Gestational? Diabetes affects people of every age, ethnicity and fitness level.
At Estes, we partner with the American Diabetes Association to support their key mission of advancing research, advocacy and education and resources for people with diabetes and their families.
Because diabetes doubles the risk of stroke or heart attack and can cause kidney failure, blindness and limb amputation, it’s now a leading cause of death in the U.S. We’re proud to support the research and education needed to reduce these complications and risks.
Estes Services and the Carrie Steele-Pitts Home
In the 1880s, a maid at Atlanta’s Union Railroad Station began caring for abandoned babies and children. Each day she placed them in an empty boxcar and took them home at night, eventually chartering the organization as the Carrie Steele Orphan Home. The name changed to the Carrie Steele-Pitts Home (CSPH) to recognize the 40 years of dedication by her successor.
Today, CSPH provides more than basic needs to children – it provides a shelter from the storm of trauma or turbulent situations. Their mission is to maintain a family environment with attention to the physical, socio-emotional, educational and spiritual development of each child.
CSPH hosts programs, camps and state-approved residency for vulnerable youth. Estes is humbled to support this crucial work in the Atlanta community.
Estes Services and Step Out Walk to Stop Diabetes
In addition to an excellent opportunity to enjoy the Atlanta outdoors with friends, family and coworkers, the Step Out Walk to Stop Diabetes raises funds for the American Diabetes Association. Every step, every dollar demonstrates you care about finding a cure and your support for those living with this condition every day.
Participation in the Walk assists the American Diabetes Association with advocacy efforts, critical research and programs such as Diabetes Camp and the Safe at School® campaign.
Estes Services and the Christian City Children’s Village
Embodying “love thy neighbor” to the fullest, Christian City Children’s Village was founded in 1965 by area Christian families to provide a loving home to Atlanta children in need. Today, Christian City Children’s Village serves a multitude of ages and needs through seven programs on their 500-acre campus.
Their mission is through housing, health care and crisis intervention, to extend Christ’s call to children, families and older adults. Estes Services provides support and participates in one of the main fundraisers, the recently renamed Bob Crutchfield Memorial Golf for Kids Tournament.
